What does FF mean?

United States

Occurs when the temperature inside the washer drops below 1C so water in the drain or inlet hoses freezes; the unit will not start until the temperature rises above 4C.

United Kingdom

Prolonged cold weather froze the inlet or drain hose; OE or FF suggest a frozen drain hose and IE suggests frozen inlet hoses or taps.

What to check first

  1. Thaw the tub and drain hose: remove laundry, pour warm water (50-60C) into the drum, close the door and wait 1-2 hours, then drain via the access cover;
  2. thaw inlet hoses and taps with warm water (below 50C);
  3. never use boiling water.

When to call a professional

After freezing weather passes and the washer thaws, it should work normally; request service if problems persist.
