What does U51 mean?

The machine stopped with FF/u51 or OE (Water Outlet Error) when water remaining inside the supply or drain hose froze in cold weather; the frozen pipes and hoses need thawing.

What to check first

  1. Empty the tub, pour 50-60C water into the tub, close the door and wait 1-2 hours, then open the drain access panel and drain water out;
  2. thaw a frozen faucet by wrapping it in a warm towel for 5 minutes and soak the supply hose in water below 50C;
  3. do not use boiling water.

Safety

  • Unplug the appliance before draining water, and keep the water away from the power supply.
  • Do not remove covers or panels beyond what the manufacturer support page describes.

When to call a professional

After thawing, run a rinse cycle to confirm the machine works; contact LG support if problems persist.
